Pawtraits started in 2016 by Nadine Berns, 5 years later and now we are a small but mighty team. We typically plan on hosting two events a year, one in Spring and one in Fall and usually plan for Sundays at your favorite brewery. Our goal with our events is to bring awareness to the rescue we are focusing on for that event while simultaneously raising them money and in return you get a regal pet portrait for supporting your local shelter. Nadine from Just Like Honey and Holly the florist from Flower Vibes wanted to give back to the animals and connect with the Houston community and that’s how Pawtraits 4 a Cause was born. Loosely inspired by Sophia Gamand’s Pitbulls in Flower Crowns. We love hearing your rescue stories and get the reminder that what we do does matter and is making difference even if it’s small. We know how important it is to get our pets photographed and it’s an honor to be able to do this while helping out our local Houston community.

the process
Prior to the event we do offer presale tickets that can be purchased via eventbrite. On the day of the event tickets purchased will only be accepted in the form of cash or venmo. There are two separate lines for cash/venmo and presale and people who bought ahead of time can just check in. If you’re bringing a cat/exotic animal you do get line priority and get to go next in line. We do ask that all animals stay leashed or in their proper carriers. We offer floral crowns/collars and all florals are gender neutral, I mean they’re flowers!, so please don’t ask for a girl/boy collar. They’re all good florals. Your pet doesn’t mind, trust me! :)
Our volunteers will help get your pet to sit and/or look with a treat but it’s even more helpful if you bring their favorite squeaky toy or treat too! Photos are only as good as your pet. We can’t promise a front on image but if you peruse past galleries, there are many amazing profile photos. We do recommend doing whatever you can to drain your pet of some of that energy before so they sit better. Our events are usually rather large so we do ask you to be patient, respectful, and kind to one another. Please don’t show up early. And don’t try to show up right when it starts because I guarantee you, you’re all thinking the same thing.
Post processing; my turnaround time for pawtrait galleries is typically 4 weeks. I do my best to remove what I can but I can’t edit out hands and leashes. If you need something removed, retouchup.com is great! I try to deliver a photo that I’d want because I know how important these images are to you.
